Some combinations of movements stay remembered. Maybe it's like skating on cut glass, locked into one of those diamond-shaped grooves. Perfect lines meet symmetrically on a clear surface that curves gently away. Sometimes you click over onto another track when you hit a crossroads. You often see other people skating around, like yourself, and sometimes they wave and sometimes you wave back. It's lucky there are never any collisions. You only need one skate for this game - the other foot never touches the ground. There's no friction, no loss of momentum, and when you change tracks you get a nice sharp click. There's no way to speed up or slow down, but hey, it doesn't matter, look at the light glinting off the diamond edges. Something must be shining, somewhere. There's someone sitting in freeze frame, just out of reach. Her eyes are reflections, but only of clouds. I wouldn't read too much into that, if I were you.
